Position Title: Engineer - Utility Plants

Department: Utility/Operations

Reports To: Utility Plant Manager


Position Summary:

The Engineer for Utility Plants will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of utility systems including boilers, compressors, cooling water systems, demineralization plants, and air & N2 turbines. The role requires technical expertise to ensure the efficiency, safety, and reliability of the plant utilities and associated systems.

Primary Responsibilities :

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage daily operations of utility systems such as boilers, compressors, cooling water systems, demin plants, and air/N2 turbines.
  • Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance of utility plant equipment to ensure uninterrupted and safe operation.
  • Monitor and analyze system performance, recommend improvements, and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all utility plant systems comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all utility equipment.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (production, engineering, safety) to resolve operational issues and ensure smooth plant operations.
  • Provide technical support and training to maintenance personnel.
  • Review and analyze utility consumption data, and develop strategies for reducing costs and improving efficiency.
  • Assist in the installation, commissioning, and upgrading of utility systems and equipment.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of [X] years of experience working in utility plants, with a strong focus on boilers, compressors, cooling water systems, demineralization plants, and air & N2 turbines.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Deep knowledge of utility plant operations, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
    • Strong understanding of the functioning and maintenance of boilers, compressors, cooling systems, demineralization plants, and turbines.
    • Ability to use advanced diagnostic tools and techniques for fault detection and resolution.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications related to safety, energy management, or plant operations (e.g., Boiler Operator Certification) are a plus.
  • Software Skills: Familiarity with maintenance management software (e.g., CMMS) and MS Office applications.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to resolving technical challenges.
  • Safety: Knowledge of industrial safety standards and best practices in utility plant operations.
