These qualifications ensure a Project Control Manager can efficiently monitor and control all

aspects of a project, including scope, cost, time, and quality.

1. Education:

 Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as:

o Project Management

o Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.)

o Construction Management

 Master's Degree (optional, but can be advantageous):

o A master’s in Project Management, Business Administration (MBA), or

Engineering Management.


2. Work Experience:

 Typically, 5-10 years of experience in project management or project control roles,

including experience in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.

 Experience in a specific industry (e.g., construction, engineering, oil & gas, IT) can be

beneficial.

 Proven track record in managing multiple projects, ideally with leadership experience.

3. Certifications:

 Project Management Professional (PMP) – Offered by the Project Management

Institute (PMI)

 Certified Cost Professional (CCP) – For those specializing in cost control, offered

by the AACE International (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering).

 Agile or Scrum Certification (optional) – For managing projects that use Agile

methodologies.

 Scheduling certifications – Such as those offered by the Project Management

Institute (PMI-SP) for scheduling professionals.

 Risk Management certifications – Like PMI-RMP for professionals focused on

project risk management.

5. Other Qualities:

 Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

 Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.

 Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards.

 High level of professionalism and accountability.

 Scheduling and Planning – Expertise in creating and maintaining project schedules

and identifying project milestones.

 Risk Management – Ability to assess and mitigate project risks.

 Leadership and Communication Skills – As a manager, they need to communicate

effectively with both clients and teams and provide leadership across projects.


 Problem-Solving and Decision-Making – Capable of quickly identifying issues and

determining effective solutions to ensure the project's success.

 Time Management – The ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and oversee

project timelines effectively.
